Armenian Bioinformatics Institute Has Been Awarded a Three-year Research Project

The Armenian Bioinformatics Institute (ABI) has been awarded a three-year research project, the German-Armenian Initiative of Spatial and Single-Cell Genome Bioinformatics for Precision Medicine (GaBioMed), in partnership with Leipzig University and the Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB). The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.

GaBioMed develops bioinformatics methods for the analysis of single-cell and spatial omics data. These methods will be applied in pilot studies of the genomic mechanisms underlying cancer progression, wound healing, and pathological skin processes, resolved at single-cell level across space and time.

The project trains the next generation of Armenian scientists through hands-on research, strengthens Armenia's capacity in genome bioinformatics and precision medicine, and supports the establishment of core bioinformatics infrastructure at ABI as a foundation for future research and international collaboration.
